Bilbao enters the top 100 cities hosting the world’s most prestigious scientific congresses
Bilbao has just entered the top 100 of the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) ranking, an annual classification that evaluates cities and countries according to the number and quality of international congresses they host. This is a very rigorous list in which the events must meet very strict criteria that verify the scientific value of the congresses and the societies that promote them.
In this latest ranking, corresponding to the events of 2024, Bilbao is in 88th place, with only Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia ahead at national level.

+INDUSTRY, the biggest smart manufacturing event of the year in Spain, is to be held under the slogan “The whole industry, here” from 3 to 5 June at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, bringing together more than 873 firms from 18 countries. This major industrial event will integrate seven trade fairs into a single platform with synergistic and structured content, promoting innovation, networking and business opportunities throughout the value chain.
Euskalduna Bilbao to host the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA) 2026
From 10 to 14 June 2026, Euskalduna Bilbao will be the centre of the European museum scene. The Palacio de Congresos y de la Música will host the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA) and a congress organised by the European Museum Forum.
Next year Bilbao will host the most prestigious event on the European museum scene. It will be a three-day congress for professionals from the museum sector and cultural agents. It will be followed by the awards gala and a number of complementary cultural activities will also be organised in the city.
BEC establishes itself in 2025 as a Key Hub for International Science
Bilbao Exhibition Centre will, in a matter of months, become a key meeting point for the international scientific community as it hosts three of the most prominent conferences on the calendar: the 40th Biennial Meeting of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), the 30th International Conference on Low Temperature Physics (LT30) and EU PVSEC, the largest international Conference for Photovoltaic research, technologies and applications.
