BIEMH IS HOLDING ITS MOST DYNAMIC AND INTERNATIONAL EDITION YET

This morning saw the presentation of the 32nd edition of BIEMH, the leading international trade fair for advanced manufacturing, which will run from 3 to 7 June at Bilbao Exhibition Centre. The press conference was attended by Xabier Basañez, the General Manager of BEC, Xabier Ortueta, the General Manager of AFM Cluster, José Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina, the President of AIMHE, José Pérez Berdud, the President of AFM Cluster, and Mari Carmen Gorostiza, the Event Manager of BIEMH, International Machine Tool Biennial.

With more than 1,500 exhibiting firms from 29 countries and over 3,500 products and services, BIEMH 2024 will feature large machinery in operation and will take pla ce in the six halls of BEC, which will be hosting, in parallel, ADDITƐD, BeDIGITAL and WORKinn Talent Hub. It will be a real industrial and technological show, with a major international presence, including countries such as Germany, Italy, Portugal, the USA, Japan, Taiwan and Turkey. FINAL OF THE UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH RECORD ATTENDANCE IN BILBAO

The Final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in Bilbao 2024 has made history, with record figures of attendance at the finals of this competition, bringing together 50,827 people at San Mamés.

Until today, the record of attendance at a final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League was held by the Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium) of Munich, with a capacity for almost 70,000 spectators, gathering together 50,212 people a t the 2012 final between Olympique Lyonnais and FFC Frankfurt.

Twelve years later, San Mamés has beaten this record, with 50,827 people assembled together at the final held in Bilbao, 615 people more than in 2012.

BILBAO CONVENTION BUREAU OBTAINS BIOSPHERE CERTIFICATION

Bilbao Convention Bureau has recently obtained their certification with Biosphere, an international reference from the tourism sector that audits a company, organisation or destination’s commitment to adopting measures in support of the 2023 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals. This is the result of a joint process started by the organisation in December together with its associates, thanks to the sector’s growing interest globally to align their goals with the 17 SDG, and which led to the certification of Torre Iberdrola last March.

In the case of Bilbao Convention Bureau, the certification expressly recognises efforts to comply with management standards so that they have a positive impact on society, together with good practices in sustainable and responsible management of the city’s MICE activity.

WINDEUROPE CLOSES 2024 EDITION AT BEC WITH AN IMPACT OF OVER 30 MILLION EUROS

WindEurope closed the 2024 edition, held between 20 and 22 March at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, exceeding the expected participation and generating an economic impact of 30.1 million Euros in terms of Gross Domestic Product. This is the third time that an Annual WindEurope Event has been held at the exhibition centre, following the editions in 2019 and 2022. The impact on GDP represents a significant growth with respect to that generated in 2022. At a time of increasing optimism for the European wind energy industry, more than 12,000 professionals from over 80 countries visited the event over the three days.
