BILBAO HOSTS MEETING OF DIRECTORS OF UNITED NATIONS AGENCIES TODAY AT LOCAL2030 COALITION HEADQUARTERS
From today, Bilbao is hosting the meeting of directors of United Nations Agencies as part of the first meeting of this kind held this year in Bilbao, the headquarters of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat (United Nations).
The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, opened the meeting, in which the mayoress of Bilbao, Amaia Arregi, also took part.
The meeting of directors and heads of the United Nations Agencies, Organisations and Programmes that form part of the Local2030 Coalition will be taking place from today and until next Friday.
These workshops were convened by UN-Habitat, the lead agency of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat. This is the first meeting of its kind to bring together directors and heads of organisations such as UN-Habitat, FAO, UNDP, UNICEF, WHO, IOM and ECLAC. The meeting is chaired by Michal Mlynár, Executive Director of UN-Habitat.
XABIER BASAÑEZ, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF BEC, UNANIMOUSLY RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE SPANISH TRADE FAIR ASSOCIATION
The Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meetings of the Spanish Trade Fair Association, AFE, were held yesterday. The members of the extraordinary meeting unanimously re-elected Xabier Basañez, Director General of BEC -Bilbao Exhibition Centre-, to lead and represent the association as President for the next four years.
Basañez thanked members of the association for their confidence and declared his intention to convey to society the importance of the exhibition industry as an economic driving force for each of the sectors in which they play a role and of working together to tackle future challenges and obstacles. He also advocated the growth of the association with new members and the strengthening of relations with other like-minded associations such as APCE (Association of Conference Centres of Spain) and AFIDA (International Association of Exhibitions in Latin America).
BIG MACHINES AT WORK WILL TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT THE 32ND EDITION OF BIEMH
The 32nd edition of the BIEMH is shaping up to be a real industrial and technological spectacle, where large machines in operation will be the undisputed protagonists. As the leading trade fair in advanced manufacturing, BIEMH 2024 has already confirmed the participation of leading companies in the sector. These include names such as DANOBAT, SORALUCE, IBARMIA, ZAYER, NICOLAS CORREA, INTERMAHER, MAQUINSER, MAQUINA CENTER, DAUNERT, DELTECO, BLM, AMADA, TRUMPF, TECOI, TCI, GEMINIS and LAGUN, among others. In addition, the return of companies that, for various reasons, had not taken part in previous editions is noteworthy: JUARISTI, ISCAR, IZAR, BAHCO, OXYSER, PANATEC, EHAFF and IRAUPEN are just some of them.
Along with the impressive state-of-the-art machinery, automation, robotics and digitalization will consolidate their position as an outstanding feature of the event. These sectors, which not only contribute to improving efficiency but also boost quality, innovation, flexibility and competitiveness, will account for around 30% of the companies exhibiting at the fair.
STEEL TECH SUCCESSFULLY CLOSES ITS SECOND EDITION DRIVING PROGRESS IN THE STEEL INDUSTRY
The challenges, advances and trends in the steel sector were the main protagonists of the second edition of STEEL TECH, Congress & Expo, an event created by and for the steel sector, which was held from 25 to 27 October at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. The meeting, positioned as a leading cutting-edge event and international benchmark in southern Europe for the steel sector, was attended by 791 professionals from over 25 countries who took part in the different interconnected spaces.
