THE WINDEUROPE ANNUAL EVENT WILL BE BACK IN BILBAO EXHIBITION CENTRE IN 2024

WindEurope today announced that the WindEurope Annual Event 2024 will take place in Bilbao Exhibition Centre on 19-21 April 2024. It’s the third time Bilbao is hosting a WindEurope Annual Event after 2019 and 2022. The 2024 event will build on the success of this year’s edition which attracted 330 exhibitors, 9,800 visitors from 78 countries and generated more than €19m for the local economy.
The event will combine an exhibition and a conference. On the exhibition floor 400 companies will showcase the latest trends in manufacturing, technology, logistics and other services. The wide-ranging conference programme will bring together 300 speakers to discuss all aspects of onshore and offshore wind, electrification, industrial policy, floating wind, renewable hydrogen and many other topics. Stand sales for the WindEurope Annual Event 2024 in Bilbao will start in March 2023.
BILBAO ATTENDED THE IBTM WORLD, THE LEADING GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE MEETINGS, INCENTIVES, CONFERENCES AND EVENTS (MICE) INDUSTRY

Bilbao attended the IBTM World, the leading global event which brings together the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) industry this week in the exhibition area of Fira Barcelona. This year, more than 2,200 exhibitors from over 100 countries have participated and more than 60,000 meetings are scheduled with over 10,000 attendees expected, indicating that activity levels are proving to be higher than before the pandemic.
Bilbao will be present at the IBTM World in the stand of the Basque Government Department of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs, where it will be presenting its solid network of infrastructures for holding business and MICE industry meetings in general (congress venues, hotels and local incoming agencies, among others). Hotel deals and offers, air connectivity and gastronomy, as well as leisure and cultural offer, are the main assets presented by Bilbao in this IBTM World.
BILBAO CLINCHED THE 33rd SPOT IN THE GDS-INDEX AND RANKED 9th ON THE LIST OF BEST MID-SIZED CITIES IN THE WORLD

Bilbao clinched 33rd spot in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index), an international benchmarking programme for sustainable destinations for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events (MICE) industry. Bilbao ranked ninth among top mid-sized cities in the world. Last year, Bilbao reached 42nd place, while this year Bilbao has significantly improved its position in the sector.
The GDS-Index essentially assesses the alignment of cities with the UN 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals comprising 71 indicators. In the case of Bilbao, the improvements implemented by Bilbao Convention Bureau and those of its suppliers integrated in the Bilbao Arima Berdea permanent working commission, have been taken into account.
BEC WILL HOST THE LARGEST HYDROGEN EVENT IN 2024

The European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC) will bring together next year at BEC the main agents and companies in the sector to show the latest technological developments, promote networking and drive commercial opportunities.
Tecnalia, Ente Vasco de la Energía, Cluster de Energía and Bilbao Exhibition Centre will collaborate with the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2) to organise in Bilbao the largest European hydrogen event, called the European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC), which will be held at BEC.
The event will address topics related to the entire hydrogen value chain, notably including generation, distribution, transport, storage and end uses of this energy vector, and aspects related to R&D in industrial projects will be tackled. This event was held on 18-20 May in Madrid and showed strong growth in attendees and participating companies. The conference is biennial and for the next edition it is planned to bring together experts and companies from the sector to share the latest technological developments, promote networking, create relevant contacts and promote commercial opportunities in the field of hydrogen.
