FINAL OF THE UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH RECORD ATTENDANCE IN BILBAO

The Final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in Bilbao 2024 has made history, with record figures of attendance at the finals of this competition, bringing together 50,827 people at San Mamés.

Until today, the record of attendance at a final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League was held by the Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium) of Munich, with a capacity for almost 70,000 spectators, gathering together 50,212 people a t the 2012 final between Olympique Lyonnais and FFC Frankfurt.

Twelve years later, San Mamés has beaten this record, with 50,827 people assembled together at the final held in Bilbao, 615 people more than in 2012.

The City Council of Bilbao, Bizkaia Regional Council and the Basque Government have worked together to make this international sporting event a success, held for the first time in Bilbao and for the first time with an audience in the Basque Country.

The Basque institutions behind the organisati on of this final highlighted that “we wanted to stress the role of women in football and in sport, and to demonstrate, once again, our capacity for organising major sporting events”.
