In the year that marks the 100th anniversary of his birth, the “Bilbao-Bilbao” stage will pay tribute to Jesús Loroño, the Biscayan cyclist who won La Vuelta in 1957, by incorporating the ascent to the Sollube pass into the route. The 157.4-kilometre route will simulate the itinerary of the first stage of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2023 and will pass through 27 municipalities of Bizkaia, including Larrabetzu, the birthplace of the honoured Jesús Loroño.

The “Bilbao-Bilbao” stage will be the 11th of La Vuelta 25 and will start in the vicinity of the San Mamés stadium on 3 September at 13:30 and will finish on the Gran Vía in the Biscayan capital at 17:20. Bilbao and Bizkaia will once again have an important date with professional cycling, hosting one of the 21 stages of La Vuelta 25, a sign of the harmony between the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the City Council of Bilbao in their commitment to hosting important sporting events.
