10TH ANNUAL BIKE TOUR CONFERENCE TO TAKE PLACE FEBRUARY 26-28, 2024
Bilbao will be the host destination for 2024 Cycle Cities Symposium, taking place February 26 – 28 at La Terminal, with bike tour operators throughout Europe expected to attend. CC is the oldest symposium and networking event for bike tour operators, bike-focused hotels, cycling and travel brands, and industry professionals. With the hospitality of Cycle Cities Member, Tourne Bilbao, attendees will get a chance to experience Bilbao’s most popular iconic spots by bike.
STEEL TECH TO BE AWARDED THE ERRONKA SEAL AS A SUSTAINABLE EVENT
Steel Tech, Congress&Expo will be certified as an Erronka Garbia event, a seal awarded by the Basque Government’s Ihobe-State-Owned Enterprise for Environmental Management, in recognition of its commitment to sustainability.
To achieve this certification, the event, which will take place from 25 to 27 October at BEC and is a benchmark meeting point for the steel industry, and implemented an impact reduction plan that proposes six lines of action: mobility, energy, water, procurement, infrastructure, and waste.
BILBAO TO HOST THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL IWA DIGITAL WATER SUMMIT FROM 14 TO 16 NOVEMBER
From 14 to 16 November, the second edition of the international IWA Digital Water Summit will be held in Bilbao. It is organised by the International Water Association (IWA) with the collaboration of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Board and the Spanish Association for Water Supply and Treatment (AEAS), as the representatives of the IWA in Spain.
For the second year running, the IWA Digital Water Summit returns to Bilbao, where last year it was attended by almost 400 individuals. The summit is designed to be the reference in digitalisation for the water sector.
BILBAO BECOMES SEVENTH BEST MEDIUM-SIZE CITY IN THE WORLD IN GLOBAL DESTINATION SUSTAINABILITY INDEX
Bilbao has become the seventh best city in the world in the Global Destination Sustainability Index, where, this year, it has risen to 24th position. It is the first city in Spain to appear in this international ranking of the 100 cities most committed to the creation of joint strategies with respect to social, economic and environmental sustainability.
This result implies a climb of nine positions with respect to 2022 and a huge leap from the 42nd position obtained in 2021, the year in which Bilbao joined Global Destination Sustainability.
